2010 Annual Report

Drug Free Marion County hosted its 12th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, March 23rd at North United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Melina Kennedy, Democratic candidate for Mayor, gave the keynote address.

This year’s Annual Awards were presented to the following: 

 Lifetime Achievement Award George Brenner of Gallahue Mental Health Services and Indiana’s first licensed clinical addictions counselor along with Mary McDaniel, a civilian case manager and lead program specialist for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
Youth Advocate AwardJames Williams, head youth counselor for Young Men, Inc. Youth Ministry and Tony Williamson, Asst. Chief, Indianapolis Fire Dept., and executive director of the St. Florian Center
Community Service AwardBrad Rider, President and CEO of United Package Liquors and Chairman of the board of the Indiana Association of Beverage Retailers
Parent Advocate AwardKristin Peoples, proud parent of two girls, Girl Scout Leader and local parent/teacher organization member instilling core values of community service, leadership, responsibility and integrity in both her daughters and her troop members.

On March 24, 2010 Drug Free Marion County hosted its Annual Meeting.at the North United Methodist Church.   The Indianapolis Safety Director,  Dr. Frank Straub and State Senator Jean Breaux were the speakers. The Community Service Awards were presented to Dean Babcock, Ivy Hogue, and Sandy Jeffers, and Mary Walker for their service to the Community and Claudette Dailey was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award. Annual Award Recipients

Community Service honorees were Dean Babcock, Associate Vice President of Midtown Community Mental Health Center ( no picture), Mary L. Walker, Chair of the Publice Safety and Neighborhood Health Committee for the Marion County Alliance of Neighborhood Associations (MCANA), Ivy Hogue (James Trulock) and Sandy Jeffers of Pathway to Recovery, Inc. 

The Lifetime Achievement recipient was Claudette Dailey, a private counselor specializing in addiction services who also works with numerous area organizations.

Keynote Speakers

The Keynote address was given by Dr. Frank Straub addressing the issues of Substance use and Crime in Indianapolis and Senator Jean Breaux, Indiana District 34 sharing the Indiana General Assembly's Legislative Session relating to drugs and alcohol.  The meeting was opened to the public.
