Drug Free Marion County is comprised of concerned citizens dedicated to preventing and reducing the negative consequences from the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in Marion County. We are business professionals, law enforcement officials, parents, health care providers, educators, neighborhood leaders and others, who, like you, care about the health and safety of our community.

DEA Sponsors Prescription Drug Take-Back Day (09/08/2010)

On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Drug Enforcement Administration will hold its first national prescription-drug "Take-Back" initiative, with several drop-off locations available in and near Indianapolis. More info... From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, participating sites will collect expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs, free and anonymously. Indiana Recovery Month Celebration Set for Sept. 25 (8/25/2010)

Drug Free Marion County and the Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition will mark Indiana Recovery Month 2010 with a variety of events in downtown Indianapolis on Sept. 25, including a 3K walk, a Recovery Ride for motorcyclists and a Rally for Recovery featuring keynote speaker Karen Freeman-Wilson. Announcement of the Availability of Funds (08/27/2010)

Announcement of the Availability of Funds Drug Free Marion County announces the availability of approximately $450,000 in grant dollars through the Marion County Drug-Free Community Fund, for services and programs to address the problems related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in Marion County. This fund is comprised of alcohol and other drug offender fees collected in Marion County. Grants will be for a one-year period only and will be effective from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. More info... The Board of Directors of Drug Free Marion County will be reviewing the proposals and making recommendations for grants from the fund. Proposal requests must be for services for Marion County residents and must address one of the Objectives contained in the Comprehensive Community Plan (a listing of these Objectives will be included with the application packet). Grants will be allotted to projects in three areas; Prevention/Education, Treatment/Intervention and Justice/Law Enforcement with some discretionary funding being allocated to miscellaneous projects. Collaboration with other providers/organizations and an indication of other funding sources is strongly encouraged. A Bidders’ Conference will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the North District Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 3120 East 30^th Street. The conference agenda will cover the grant application, the review process and the role of Drug Free Marion County in the process. There will be a detailed walk-through for completing and filing grant applications. Packets of instructions and the necessary forms will be available at the conference.
